About Us

My reason for choosing to pursue a doctorate degree in Psychology/Theology at Liberty University can be found in Liberty’s mission statement, focus, beliefs, and earnest desire to teach God’s will.  The statement of equipping Christian leaders with a compassionate heart of sharing the Gospel, while teaching research skills to solve real world problems, impressed me and is one of the reasons I chose Liberty.  My heart’s desire is to walk among hurting people to provide healing. I know how it feels to be hurt or broken and desperately needing a counselor. This heartfelt compassion stems from life experiences from which the Lord, through His infinite mercy, has delivered me.

This brought me to a place of healing. I have been a teacher of God’s Word for many years, sharing 30 years in various ministries, from babies to adults. I have also been singing and recording music for the Lord for many years and am currently recording my seventh album.   Faith leaders of this nation, such as David Jeremiah, Greg Laurie, Joyce Meyers, and others, inspired me to write a book. This book enables others to know how to fend off demonic forces through Scripture. Scripture alleviates the pain and crippling fear of being alone or without hope. I have seen that these faith leaders have supported Liberty University, and I feel safe applying for my doctorate at such a prestigious establishment. Psychology and theology doctors are needed to act as counselors to walk beside damaged or broken people and to undergird them as they deal with life’s challenges. There are millions of people battling sickness who desperately need prayer and Scripture to become well. Demonic warfare permeates one’s psyche. This book is a call for the nation to pray, as Scripture implies in 2 Corinthians 7:14, “If my people who are called by my name will humble themselves and pray and seek my face and turn from their wicked ways then will I hear from heaven and heal their land.”

I have experienced much spiritual warfare like the scriptures declare. Experientially, I have seen the power of God’s hand healing my life. Debbie McDaniel is an author who touched my heart with her knowledge of scriptures concerning spiritual warfare and grounding readers in Scripture. The training I received from her enabled me to cope with life’s problems through devastating and crippling fear. I believe professors of Divinity at Liberty are fully versed in the Scripture to provide a firm foundation for me to be able to practice counseling. There are many pastors, music leaders, and professional leaders, such as Jerry Falwell and his son Jerry Falwell, Jr., who have been successful pastors. There are prestigious singer-songwriters, such Toby Mac, Mark Lowry, and Hector Cervantes who have successful careers because of the tutelage of Liberty University. I am excited to hear of their success.

I wish to share in this knowledge and be taught at a deeper level to provide biblical insights to help others in their daily lives. The psychological part of my education will enable me to engage or advance in the field of counseling. This knowledge will prepare me for the healthcare business or educational field. Biblical understanding, along with psychological principles, can ground a person’s faith, enabling them to understand the context of their suffering. This will also provide a method of comprehension deemed essential for a healthy lifestyle. It is a key component to integrate biblical studies while dealing with the psychological world. One should always apply a sympathetic, considerate, and kind mannerism while learning and teaching theology in one’s life and ministry. This act establishes confidence and trust in the Creator from whom all peace, love, and healing evolve. A counselor or faith leader can ease the areas of pain from mental illness to reinforce a healing cognizance, empowering someone to meet life’s challenges in this broken world. Through praying and researching schools, I have found Liberty to be unequivocally unmatched.  Other faith-based schools may not carry such a deep spiritual conviction, as I noticed Liberty has through my observation of social media.  This conviction drives the very heart of Liberty University. I found that there are different cognates, such as behavioral and industrial. A young man in the undergraduate psychology program at Liberty spoke of certain skills which are being taught. These skills deal with interactions in discerning behavior which could be applied in one’s place of work and are vital for a thriving environment where people spend most of their lives.

My goal is to reach many people with a strong biblical foundation. Why is it essential to have the Bible as your foundation in ministry or work? Because we are all lost without the Creator God and His principles. Why is Psychology/Theology an important field to study together? Because you can’t have healing unless you can understand the culture that a Christian or non-Christian walks through. This doctorate degree in Psychology/Theology will guide me to reach more people where they are in their cultural environment as I share the Gospel or good news that Jesus heals, saves, and redeems. Luke, one of Jesus’ disciples, was a doctor.  Today we need more Christian doctors and counselors like Luke. I believe Luke to have been a good physician, and if you read his Gospel, you will find healing through his walk with the Lord. Because of the healing properties of God’s Word that the Bible teaches, readers of this Holy Inscription are miraculously healed from mental anguish and the wounds inflicted from spiritual warfare.  I believe Liberty University can offer strength and confidence in my faith while providing a strong intellectual cognitive. My intent is to keep my powerful belief in the written word of Christ incarnate and share this with whoever needs love. This faith, coupled with the psychological understanding of faith-based principles, that Liberty can help me refine, will give me a broader understanding of the field. I believe that my colleagues from Liberty and I can together penetrate a broken world. This world is in dire need of counselors and doctors to share Jesus’ love. With God’s guidance we will be successful liaisons providing a bridge to connect positive mental health to society. It has been a dream of mine to attend Liberty University, and I am so grateful for this opportunity to hone my skills to help others heal and grow in the love of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.
